Current Sermon Series

Sundays @ 9:00am and 11:15am

It's not enough to just show up at church. Our hearts long for more than that. We want to be known. We want to have purpose and know that we make a difference. This series is an invitation to drive deep roots into our church and see the difference you can make when you partner with God and His mission.

Pastor Richard

Can you believe we are already headed into 2022?  I hope everyone had a great Christmas Season.  Thank you for all the positive response with our “Travel Light” series through Christmas.  We will end the series on January 2 with the message, “Let Go of the Past”. What a great message for the beginning of a new year.  Wherever you are in life and whatever the circumstances you find yourself in, I want you to know God is ready to walk with you through it and even carry you if you trust Him.  He is the God of forgiveness and “do overs”…it’s never too late. Your staff and Board is very excited about our plans for 2022.  Remember, we are going to “Dream Crazy Big!” It all begins in January as we move forward with making plans for casting a God Sized Vision and keeping you updated as we go.  There will be 2 special church meetings in January.  They will be held on Sunday evenings, 1/23 and 1/30, at 6pm, in the Sanctuary.  These meetings are especially for members of our church so that you can hear what we are planning, voice your opinions, and vote on whether or not you agree with the direction in which we are leading the church.  These meetings are extremely important if you desire to have a say so and are interested in the future of BWC. As your Pastor, I believe I speak for your staff, board, and myself when I say, “We are extremely excited and looking forward to seeing and experiencing what God has for us in 2022.”  I just know our best days are yet to come! Blessings and Happy New Year!

Memory Minute

Cheryl Walkup

In 1922 Warren G Harding was President of the United States, The Lincoln Memorial was dedicated in Washington, DC and Readers Digest was published for the very first time. The city of Brevard, NC was 62 years old in 1922 and the population at that time was approximately 1,658 people. Arizona and New Mexico had each enjoyed statehood for only 10 years, bringing the total number of states at the time to 48. Betty White, Doris Day and Judy Garland were all born that year. Who would have thought that one of them would still be around? Also in 1922 Brevard Wesleyan Church was formed. In 2022 we will celebrate our 100th birthday! All year long we plan to look back at the past century to see what historical events have occurred in the life and times of this church and its members. In the coming months you will see an article in each monthly Newsletter highlighting various different portions of our past. We hope you will look forward to reading those each month. And mark your calendars for Sunday, October 23rd when we will have our official celebration of our 100th birthday! In the meantime, be thinking of special memories that mean a lot to you. Whether you have been here for many years or only a few months, we all have stories about Brevard Wesleyan Church and we want to collect those throughout the year.
